Two Days – one rainy, one clear

Phoenix has, on average, 325 days of sunshine each year. It’s a rare day when I head out and it’s heavy overcast. I forget how the clouds act like a giant soft box, lighting everything very evenly. Shadowy area disappear. Dull colors go bland and bright colors pop. It forces me out of my norm to see something different.

Of course I’ll never turn down an opportunity to shoot in the afternoon’s magic light on a clear day.

Arielle and I headed out to Blockbuster to rent a couple video games. We took a few detours through an alley by the apartment.

Coffee Haus Inspiration

I have a good desk, an ok chair, photos on the walls, some family, some inspirational and a demotivational poster in my home office. There are two windows by my desk so my cats and I can keep tabs on the movements of the neighborhood cats. Overall it’s a good work environment. Sometimes I need out get out and clear my head. One my favorite ways to do this is heading down to a coffee shop for a nice change of scenery. Until we moved into our new place this involved hopping in the car and driving there. Now, my favorite coffee shop, Lux, is within walking distance. At least while it’s under 110 degrees.

Now when I need a change of environment, I’ll grab my laptop, my camera and my walking shoe before I head out. This allows me to explore my neighborhood a little and find interesting photos along the way.

There’s nothing like a creative bust before you get back to work.
