<p>This has been an interesting year for <a href="http://www.arielleaudio.com">Arielle</a> and me. It was my busiest year to date. This year I had 73 days of shooting. About a third of them were for personal projects. My projects consisted of <a href="http://www.andydelisle.com/projects/vancouver2010/">Vancouver Winter Olympics</a>, <a href="http://www.26blocks.com">26 Blocks</a> and a story on the rodeo queens of the Prescott Rodeo that will be published in the NSCU Alumni magazine in the spring.<br />
<a title="This year I had 73 days of shooting." class="thickbox" rel="101231" href="http://www.andydelisle.com/blog/2010/2010bestof-01.jpg"</a><br />
<a title="Through out it all, I've had an amazing amount of support from Arielle. At times she's my muse, most of the time she helps keeps me sane through the craziness." class="thickbox" rel="101231" href="http://www.andydelisle.com/blog/2010/2010bestof-02.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://www.andydelisle.com/blog/2010/2010bestof-02.jpg" border="0" alt="" width=100% /></a> Through out it all, I&#8217;ve had an amazing amount of support from Arielle. <br /><a title="Through a weird scheduling quirk, the Fiesta Bowl Parade happened twice this year, on January 2nd and December 31st. <br /><a title="I have a lot to look forward to in the coming year. No matter how busy I get I'll always remind myself to have fun and shoot for myself. <p>I&#8217;ve been a part of the <a href="http://www.aphotoaday.org/">A Photo A Day</a> community for several years. This community of very talented photographers has been a huge influence on me. So when my work gets recognized by being displayed on the homepage front, I&#8217;m very honored. This is the third time I&#8217;ve had the honor on my work on the front page. I previous got the front June 4, 2005 and June 3, 2008.</p>
<p>Update: Since originally posting, this I also got the front on August 22, 2010 for another of my Vancouver photos.</p>

On a whim, they decided to continue on to Phoenix.<br />
<a href="http://www.andydelisle.com/blog/2009/090808-7.jpg" title="" class="thickbox" rel="090807"></a><br />
Friday night we invited the guys from Megafaun over for dinner. The plan was to grab dinner then head out to First Friday. The dinner part happened without a problem, but we never made it out. We ended up relaxing at the house playing Rock Band.</p>

Last month the <a href="http://www.jea.org">Journalism Education Association</a> held it&#8217;s spring convention in downtown Phoenix. I was asked by my old <a href="http://www.ncsu.edu/sma/">Student Media Advisor</a> at NCSU, Bradley Wilson, to help with the judging. Needless to say, I jumped at the chance to help. It&#8217;s been a while since I&#8217;ve judged any photo contest and this was the first time I&#8217;ve had the opportunity to judge at the high school level.<br /><a href="http://www.andydelisle.com/blog/2009/090417-1.jpg" title="" class="thickbox" rel="090417"></a></p>
<p>The evening was a lot of fun and was able to met <a href="http://www.greatpicturehunt.com/">David LaBelle</a>. I bought his book, <span style="font-style:italic;">The Great Picture Hunt</span>, when I was first getting into photojournalism. It was very influential in getting me started along that path. <br /><a href="http://www.andydelisle.com/blog/2009/090417-2.jpg" title="" class="thickbox" rel="090417"><br /><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" width=300 src="http://www.andydelisle.com/blog/2009/090417-2.jpg" border="0" alt=""></a><br />I hope I was able to help and encourage the students with my critiques. I know the many critiques I&#8217;ve had have helped me. Not a bad way to spend a Friday evening.</p>

<a href="http://arielleaudio.com/">Arielle</a> headed to LA for the weekend. This left me with some extra time unscheduled time. I figured I would be very productive and get a lot done. Things didn&#8217;t quite work out like that, but I did catch up on the remaining episodes of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firefly_(TV_series)">Firefly</a> that I missed. I also went for a hike at Saquaro Lake with Bryan, <a href="http://www.meganresch.com/">Megan</a> and <a href="http://fabulous-fabulous.blogspot.com">Jill</a>. On our way out of the park, we stopped at the side of the road to shoot some wide flowers.<a href="http://www.andydelisle.com/blog/2009/090301-4.jpg" title="" class="thickbox" rel="090301-1"></a><a href="http://www.andydelisle.com/blog/2009/090301-5.jpg" title="" class="thickbox" rel="090301-1"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" width=500 src="http://www.andydelisle.com/blog/2009/090301-5.jpg" border="0" alt=""></a><a href="http://www.andydelisle.com/blog/2009/090301-6.jpg" title="" class="thickbox" rel="090301-1"><br /><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" width=500 src="http://www.andydelisle.com/blog/2009/090301-6.jpg" border="0" alt=""></a></p>

Fellow photographer <a href="http://www.meganresch.com">Megan</a> and I went down to the downtown branch of the <a href="http://www.phoenixpubliclibrary.org/index.jsp">Phoenix Public Library</a>. The architecture of the building is very fun. We both commented on how we would love to do a portrait shoot there.</p>
